Living Every Minute
The last time I was honored to spend time with Eric was several months ago. It was late golf season and Eric and I agreed to golf one last time before the season was over. It was a cold and rainy day and even though the other two guys showed, I thought for sure Eric would not want to golf which I was secretly hoping for. Eric showed up with a big smile on his face as always, and was eager to play as if it was sunny and warm. I reluctantly threw my clubs on to the cart and Eric's positivity soon wore off on me. However, even with Eric's enthusiasm despite the current reality, I didn't have it in me to golf the back nine as the rain grew more steadily and the temperatures kept falling, Eric, who was always accommodating, simply shook his head as if he knew something I didn't and said "you have to live every minute Jeff" and Eric did! He pulled away to continue finishing his round (which he was very proud of) and drove off with that smile which seemed permanently affixed to his face.
Eric was a very good man who truly did live every minute of his life. He spoke often of his love for his daughters, rubbing in how he consistently won the fantasy football league, but mostly, we spoke about our shared believe of Jesus Christ to which Eric spoke of his love for Him! I will miss Eric's smile, his enthusiasm, but most of all, his loving and kind nature. God's speed Eric!
